Monday 25th January Class 1

RHebblewhite - 21 Jan 2021

Monday 25th January

Good morning everyone! We hope you all had a great weekend.

Today's Tasks are as follows:
Phonics Reception - Learn to read tricky words, 'was' and 'my'.
Maths Reception - Cut out an explore pictures made from Triangles.
Phonics Nursery - Learn our new Sound of The Week, 't'.
Maths Nursery - Sorting and counting animals.

Join us at 9.00a.m. this morning for a live meet, to share the story 'Dear Zoo'.

If you are unable to make it today, click on the triangle play button below, to watch the story.

Activity for Reception and Nursery

Listen to the story today. Did you enjoy it? What was your favourite part?

What would you ask the zoo to send you? You could draw a picture and write 'The zoo sent me a...'.

Look around your bedroom - can you make your own zoo? Can you put the animals in groups? You could put farm animals together, jungle animals, sea creatures etc...You could also group the animals that come from hot/cold places.  Which group has the most animals?
Maybe you could act out your own 'Dear Zoo' story to show Mummy and Daddy?

Phonics Reception

Practise your tricky words with your cards. Here is a NEW Tricky Words song that you might like to listen to.

Today we're going to learn to read/recognise the tricky words 'was' and 'my'. Make your own tricky word cards to add to your Tricky Word pot. Practise the actions to go with them - for 'was', we shrug our shoulders, as if we're asking a question beginning with 'was', for instance 'Was that your biscuit or mine?'

The action for the tricky word 'my' is like saying 'it's mine', for instance, 'it's 'my' teddy'.

Ask your grown-up to help you to make your cards.  You could attach them to different doors in your house - each time anyone goes in or out of that room, they must read the password!

Phonics Nursery

Our new 'sound of the week' is the 't' sound.
Can you practise making that sound? Make a quiet baby 't' sound, a loud daddy 't' sound and a middle-sized Mummy 't' sound!
Watch this video in join in the the 't' song.

Now that you have heard the song, can you make the sound 't' and imagine you are holding your tennis racket and hitting the ball? Practise doing it in different ways, e.g. up high, down low, quietly, loudly, slowly, fast.
Look around your house for a small group of 't' 'a' and 's' words, to put on a tray. Play 'I spy' with your grown-up.

Maths Reception

You have been learning about shapes in Maths. Can you remember the names of two shapes you looked at last week? Which one has a curved edge? Which has four corners?
Today we are going to look at Triangles. How many corners does a Triangle have? How many edges? Are they straight or curved?
Take an A4 piece of paper. Ask your grown-up to help. Fold the top left corner to the bottom, to form a triangle and cut off the rectangle, so that you have a square.

Then fold the square several times, to produce several small triangles. Can you cut out the triangles?
Can you put them together to make a square? an animal picture? a bigger triangle? a straight line? a flower picture? etc..

Find and complete the 'In The Jungle' sheet in your Maths Pack. Follow the instructions to colour in the pictures.

Maths Nursery

Look around your bedroom - can you make your own zoo? Can you sort the animals in groups? You could put farm animals together, jungle animals, sea creatures etc...
Which group do you think has the most animals? Can you count the animals by touching them one at a time?

Good work everyone! Enjoy the rest of your day!
