  Welcome Back to Home School!

Morning work

Facts at your fingertips!
Find the booklet called 'Weekly Written Arithmetic Questions' Turn to Week 2. Use your watch or a timer to see how quickly you can complete all the questions. Stop after 5 minutes. Remember you can use your bricks or draw pictures to help.

Y2 - you can miss out question 14.

Click on the Home Learning tab at the top of the page to find the answers.

Click on the video below to listen to our new story.

Did you notice all the hidden dragons?
Where could a dragon hide at your house? Look around and find the easiest place. What about the hardest place? Where could a large dragon hide? Where could a tiny dragon hide?

In your Yellow Home School book write the title

Hidden dragons

and then write the short date in the margin. You can find the short date at the top of this page. Now draw a picture of a dragon in the top half of the page. (Don't worry about drawing on the lined paper at home.) Now write some sentences underneath your drawing to describe where your dragon would be hiding. My friend had some ideas:

The dragon's tail was trailing down from the top of the fridge. The dragon peered round the sofa. The dragon squeezed between the play boxes.

Y2 - Can you highlight all the capital letters and full stops that you have used.

Have your books with you tomorrow in our Teams call tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock and you can read your sentences to me.

Maths

Before Christmas we were looking at money. We discovered that there are notes and coins.

Can you find any real coins at home? The coins we have in the UK are

Year 1
Today we are going to look at the coins up to 10p. If you can find real coins for 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p then I would like you do do a rubbing of each coin on a piece of plain or the next page in your Yellow Home School book. Put the coin under the piece of paper (or page) then gently colour over the top so that the pattern comes through. Is the pattern on both sides of the coin the same?

Now find this sheet

in your pack then cut along the lines and match the cards. Hint: there are 3 in each group. Stick the cards into your Home School book.

Year 2 - Find and complete the sheet called 'Recognising coins'

Stick it into your Home School book.

Maths Super Challenge - Optional

Can you imagine the square on the back? Where will the number 1 be? Where will 10 be?

What happens if you add each number on the front to the number behind it?

Phonics/Spelling

Y1 & Y2 - Can you remember all your sounds? Join in with me to play a game of Flashcards Time Challenge below.
