Morning work

Facts at your fingertips!
Find the booklet called 'Weekly Written Arithmetic Questions' Turn to Week 6. Use your watch or a timer to see how quickly you can complete all the questions. Stop after 5 minutes.

Y2 - You can miss out question 17.

Mark your own work using your purple pen. The answers are in the Home Learning tab.

English

Which capital letters are we learning today? Click on the video to find out.

Now have a go at the letters H, I, J, K, L on the Rainbow Capital Letters sheet in your handwriting booklet.

Listen to the begining of our new story below.

Can I form all of my letters correctly?
What would you do to help Duck if you were one of the animals? Write one or more sentences to tell me.

This week we are focusing on handwriting so you can write fewer sentences but think carefully about how you are forming your letters.
1) Have you started all of your capital letters at the top?
2) Can I tell the difference between your short letters and tall letters?
3) Do all the tails on letters go down below the line (descenders)?
4) Y2s is all your writing in joined up?

Y1 Maths

Watch the video to find out what we are learning today.

Can I add repeated groups
Complete the next 2 pages in your Multiplication booklet. They have the numbers 85 and 86 at the bottom.

Take a photo of your work and send it to me on your private channel in Teams (or email).

Challenge: Have a go at writing your own repeated addition sentences on the next page in your booklet. The number at the bottom of the page is 87.

Y2 Maths

Watch the video to find out what today's problem is.

Can I represent the 2 times table using pictures or objects?
Make 12 dot cards. Cut an A4 piece of paper/card into 12 and draw 2 dots on each rectangle.

Use the dot cards to show and say the 2 times table. Can you use multibase?

How would you use dot cards or bricks or other objects to show 6 x 2? Send me a photo.

Join in with the 2 times table song.

If you finish quickly then log onto Sumdog.

Phonics/Spelling

Can you remember all your sounds? See if you can say them before I do.

Year 1

Can you remember what sound 'ur' makes?
Copy your spellings into your home school book. Copy each word onto a new line so that you can practice them each day using the 'Look, say, cover, write, check method.

Can you find the 'ur' sound and put a line under it?
Are there any other 2 letter sounds in your words?

Year 2

Y2s this week we learning about adding the suffixes 'er', 'ed' and 'est' to words ending in 'y'. What do you notice? Do the spellings we were practicing last week help? How?

Copy your spellings into your home school book. Copy each word onto a new line so that you can practice them each day using the 'Look, say, cover, write, check' method. Rember to use joined up handwriting. Look on your laminated handwriting sheet for any letters that you are not sure how to form.
