Morning work

Facts at your fingertips!
Find the booklet called 'Weekly Written Arithmetic Questions' Turn to Week 7. Use your watch or a timer to see how quickly you can complete all the questions. Stop after 5 minutes.

Y2 - You can miss out question 15.

Mark your own work using your purple pen. The answers are in the Home Learning tab.

English

Which letter are we practicing today? Click on the video to find out.

Can I correctly form the joined up letter 'd'.
Y1 - Practice the letter 'd' on the second page of your handwriting booklet that says 'Caterpillar letters'. Look carefully because there 2 lines for the letter 'd'.  If there is extra space on the lines you could have a go without the dots.

Y2 - Practice joining the letter 'd'. Copy the following sentence into your home school book.

Listen carefully to the begining of our book again. What can you learn about how animals and plants get or store water in the desert?

Can I remember facts from the story?

Tell someone else in your family how these desert animals, plants or insects get or store water.

Today we are going to be writing in DT.

Y1 Maths

1) Cut up some card or paper into 10 pieces and write the numbers 11 to 20 on them.
2) Shuffle the cards and pick 3.
3) Can you arrange them in order from smallest to greatest? Remember you can use your bricks to help.
4) Can you arrange them in order from greatest to smallest?

If you have time then log onto Sumdog where I have set a challenge called 'Compare and order numbers to 20'.

Copy your spellings into your home school book. Copy each word onto a new line so that you can practice them each day using the 'Look, say, cover, write, check method.

Can you find the 'oi' sound and put a line under it?
Are there any other 2 letter sounds in your words?

DT
I bought some fruit over the weekend. Can you name any of them?

Passion fruit
Grape
Plum
Banana
Kiwi
Pomegranate
Orange
Lychee
Banana
Fig
Apple

I wonder what they look like inside. Can you guess which picture goes with which fruit?

Do you have any fruit in your house? Where did they come from? I think we need to do some DT, Science and English! Think about your senses and impressive adjectives.

Get 2 different fruits (or just imagine if you don't have any today.) Write the name of your fruit in the middle of your page then write adjectives around it to describe what it looks like, feels like, smells like, tastes like.

Did you like the taste?
Did it look delicious?
