Morning work

Facts at your fingertips!
Find the booklet called 'Weekly Written Arithmetic Questions' Turn to Week 8. Use your watch or a timer to see how quickly you can complete all the questions. Stop after 5 minutes.

Y2 - You can miss out question 19.

Mark your own work using your purple pen. The answers are in the Home Learning tab.

English

Start at the beginning of your Handwriting book and complete the next handwriting pattern page. Remember to check your pencil grip even when you are colouring.

Today you are going to write the next section of your Desert fact sheets all about animals in the desert. If you want to listen to the the book again then the videos are below.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Can I write the next section of my fact sheet from my planning?

Look at your planning words and pictures. Tell someone else in your family all about the animal or animals that you have in the second box on your planning sheet.

Leave a blank line below the work you did on Friday and on the next line down write the date in the margin and then one or more sentences about desert animals.

Challenge: Use the subheading 'Animals' or 'Are there any animals in the desert?'

Here is an example. This person hasn't finished their Animal sentences yet.

Remember Y1s you don't have to use subheadings. If you are a Y2 and didn't try using subheadings on Friday then you can still use one today for your Animals section.

You will need a whiteboard pen and laminated sheet because you will need to draw a picture for the first problem.

Can I solve word problems involving multiplication?

Blue Maths No Problem Book - pages 104 to 108.

Hint. If you have to work out 5 x 8 you could do 8 x 5 instead because multiplication is commutative.

Are there any 2 letter sounds in your words?

This week we are looking at fruit salads. Here are some pictures.

The fruit doesn't look the same as the plate of different fruits I showed you? What have they done?

Today I want you to investigate different ways to cut up your fruit. You will need an adult to watch you and always remember to wash the fruit and your hands first. Click on the 2 pictures below to watch a video to find out how to safely hold your fruit and use a knife.

Claw hold.

Bridge hold.

How many different ways can you cut up your fruit?
Slices one way
Slices the other way
Chunks
Make into shapes

What happens if you use a peeler on an apple or pear? Can you make long curly strips?

Take a photo of the different things you have done with your fruit and share them on the general channel in Teams.
