Art and Easter Fun

26 Mar 2021

Designing and making clay tiles
Following on from our walk around the village we have been having lots of fun designing and making clay tiles on the theme of Grewelthorpe.

We had to carefully roll out the clay using guides to make sure that the clay was the correct thickness.

How many different marks can we make with all the tools? Let's experiment!

How do you join pieces of clay together?
We discovered that you need to score both pieces.

Then paint with 'slip' and press together.

Ta dah! We were surprised how well this worked testing our results by turning the tiles upside down!

After all that experimenting it was time to start creating our designs. Can you spot a church, pond, playground, trees, flowers, school, clouds and maybe some ducks?

Easter Fun
We have been learning about how Christians prepare for and celebrate Easter. We have looked at symbols of new life and why they are important at Easter time. We made an easter tree using branches from the school playground. We watched the blossom flower and decorated it with colourful eggs. We enjoyed hot cross buns for our afternoon snack, baked chocolate Easter nests and made fantastic yellow chick cards.
