What can we weigh?

09 Jul 2021

Is it heavier than 1kg or lighter than 1kg?
This week in Maths we have been investigating mass.

Can you guess which is the 1 gram weight and which is the 1 kilogram weight?

We estimated which objects were heavier or lighter and then checked with a balance scale.

We also tried to guess which items in the classroom were lighter or heavier than 1kg.

There were some surprising results. The old school bell which is made of metal and feels really heavy is actually lighter than 1kg. In fact we found it very hard to find any object that was heavier than 1kg.

We then got to use the stand on scales to weigh ourselves.

Fantasy stories

In English we started a new book called 'The Mystery Guest'.  We read to half way and then all had lots of great ideas about what might happen next.
