Tuesday 5th May

04 May 2020

Good morning, Class 3.

I hope you had fun making the medals yesterday, the designs you sent me were brilliant and I was really impressed by all the thought that went into their design.

If you look carefully you will notice that there are no numbers to help you work out the answers, I wonder if you could draw the numbers down the side as a scale to help?

For your work today you will need to draw some graphs. Please keep your work neat and tidy.

Year 4

Here are your sheets, year 4. Submarine group - please do as you have been doing and work from the Maths No Problem sheets on here

There are lots of ways you could do this. Think about the number of sides and if the sides are the same length to begin with.

Can remember what a quadrilateral is? Yep, a four sided shape with staight sides.yes

You will have to use lots of skills for this today. Remember - perimeter is the distance around the outside of a shape.

Here are the sheets in case you need them.

This could be tricky! You could try making the shape and folding them over to see if they are symmetrical. Try turning the shapes too, sometimes if you see them from a different angle it helps you spot lines of symmetry.

Here are the answers so you can mark your work.

English

Yesterday I was taking my excerise walk with my dog and I was walking past lots of my favourite cafes and places to eat and thinking about all of the yummy food I'd had there (and yes, there had been a lot of cake eating before you say). This got me thinking about what I would love to have to eat when I went out after lock down finished and I started to create my dream menu in my head. As I was doing it I discovered that I was using lots of adjectives to describe the food (fresh, gooey cream cakes and delicious, oven-baked pizza). I thought this would be a great way to work on using adjectives to help us describe things.

For your English task I would like you design a menu.

You'll need to pick a couple of options for starters, main courses and of course the all important puddings! You could use whatever food takes your fancy. Don't forget to add some great describing words and you could even draw the food to show just how amazing it is at your cafe. Some of you might be planning a VE day picnic so you could even use that to help you get ideas.

I have put some examples here for you to have a look at ( I am SO hungry after reading these now!)

Afternoon Activities

For the afternoon we have two things to do. The first is to look at the slides below (or there is a link to the PowerPoint is you prefer) and read about VE day so we know all about it when we celebrate on Friday. Some of the words and ideas in the slides can be quite difficult to understand so it would be a good idea to read it through and chat about it with a grown up.

  -VE day 75th Anniversary Powerpoint.pptx-

After that I would like you to go on to Charanga music and complete the activities below.

Day 1 –

Log into Charanga Yumu. Click on Assignments then Mamma Mia – Step 3

On the right hand side you will see the different activities. Today click on the second activity ‘Listen and Appraise – The Winner Takes it All’

Do you like the song? What can you hear?

  • How many singers? Are they male or female?
  • Do they sing on their own or all together?
  • What instruments can you hear?
  • Is there a hook (a short catchy phrase/riff that we can’t stop singing; the main musical idea from the song that we remember.)
  • What is the tempo – fast or slow?

Listen out for an introduction, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus, verse, chorus.

Listen again and watch the line move across the coloured bar at the bottom of the screen. Think about the structure of the music. What do the different colours represent?

This song is unusual because the chorus is sung 6 times, the melody is the same like normal but the  words are different each time. The words of the chorus are normally the same each time.

Have a great afternoon,
Mr G
