Tuesday 12th May

11 May 2020

Hi Class 3.

Hope you had a good day yesterday. Thanks for all of the pictures showing me what you got up to at the weekend, it looks like you have had lots of fun! I'm very jealous of the yummy cakes you had too, they look delicious! Congratulations and happy birthday to the birthday boy too. I hope you had a brilliant day.

PE.

Have a look at the below link. There are lots of ideas for different PE type activities that you could do at home; give one a go! There's a link to Joe Wicks or our Real PE units

(I always put the PE first because it is live at 9 am. If you want to do it at a different time so that your breakfast doesn't get jiggled up in your belly then feel free).

Now it is time for our maths.

It looks like the scale has changed again to make it more tricky! It now goes up in fives so be careful.
You will need to look very carefully at the little lines between the numbers on this one.

Now it is time to complete our worksheets. Remember to keep it all neat and tidy and don't forget the date. yes

Here are the answers!

Year 4

Now it is your turn, year 4. smiley

The order of the numbers is very important! Have a careful look at the order they are in over the next few slides.

You need to put the number from the X axis (the bottom one) first, and then the Y axis (the one on the side) second.
The order is very, very , very , very , very important (did I remember to say it was important?) .

Here are your answers. Don't forget to mark you books and see how you have done.

Underneath the Maths No Problem answers I've put a challenge sheet. Submarine group - your mission is to do that one, please. If anyone else wants a go at that one too then feel free to, I always like it when people take up a challenge!

Position is a great topic and you can have so much fun with it. You could maybe look on maps and look at the the position of different towns and places, you could play battle ships, you could make treasure maps and let X mark the spot. I hope you have fun with this, it is one of my favourite areas of maths.

Quick note to grown- ups.
The book can be confusing here because it seems like it wants the children to write the answer from the y axis first, when it should be the x axis instead. Later in the week it will be clearer, but the children just need to know they should go across first and then up to get the position.

Year 4 Maths Challenge.

A true statement could be "the starfish travels 7 squares to the right on the x axis".

English

For your English we are going to do a reading comprehension. In your reading packs there should be a couple of reading comprehensions tucked away somewhere. When I made the packs up I made them so that there ended up being lots of different combinations for different people,  so I'm not going to be able to put all of the ones up as it would fill the webpage! Your pack hopefully has two in it though (maybe more if you were lucky - and yes, having extra work is lucky cheeky), and I would like you to pick one and then complete it . Hopefully the answers are in with it too, they should be on the last page of the comprehension. yes

If you can't find one in your pack then please go on Reading Plus and do two activities on that instead.

Afternoon activities.

This afternoon are going to relax with some art, but it will be some strange looking art!

We are going to look at the artwork of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and try to re-create some of his pictures. If you look carefully at his pictures you will notice something strange! Take a closer look and see what you can see...

Yep, his pictures are made up of fruit and veg! I would like you to try and draw a self-portrait (that means a picture of you) using fruit and veg to make up the face. Try and use as much detail as you can, he doesn't just use a potato for the face (it would look too much like me then!), he uses some peaches for the cheeks, a pear for the nose, peas for the eyebrows and so on.

If you send me the results then I can put them on tomorrow's website and we could guess who the picture is .

If you would like to finish your game instead though that is up to you. yes

Have fun and enjoy your day,

Mr G
