Forces and acting

11 Jun 2021

This week we have been looking at forces and magnets in science. We started by thinking about how forces can act on objects and make them move. We learned that there are pushing and pulling forces and thought about how these forces made objects behave. Have a look at our sketches below. What do you think the arrows show? Can you work out which are pulling and which are pushing forces?

We also looked at magnets and how they can be attracted to certain metals. Here we are testing two pieces of metal someone managed to find in their garden. I wonder if they are magnetic? What do you think? I'll give you a clue, the horseshoe has iron in it and the coin does not.

As you know we love reading in Class 3 and we have been doing some more work on our book, "The Firework Maker's Daughter". The story is getting very exciting and we took on the role of the main character to think about how she was feeling as she was climbing the side of a volcano to find the lair of a fire demon. We took some freeze frames to show what we had done. I'm sure you'll agree our acting skills are great!
