Last-week fun

16 Dec 2021

Well, we've made it to the last school week of 2021 and what a year it's been! We rounded off the last week by applying our Banksy knowledge to design our own stencil pieces. The tip to making a good stencil is to keep it simple and to avoid small, fiddly areas to have to cut out.

Our stimulus was ideas which are inspired by 'healthy planet' and a low-carbon footprint

Having come up with several designs, we chose one to make on a large piece of cardboard, which we first painted to look like a wall.

We then cut out our stencils very carefully.

And finally, we printed our stencils onto our cardboard wall.

In other news, we were offered an apple tree from the Yorkshire Gardens Trust to honour the Queen's 70th jubilee next year.

Here's a selection of photos of the year sixes who kindly voluntered to dig and plant the tree during their lunch breaks.

We also had lots of fun making watercolour Christmas cards. We had to work carefully to create the right setting and colour mix. We experimented with a range of colours and then applied these in layers to create the image of a winter-setting sun.

We were very proud of our finished pieces.

And finally, it was of course party time this week. Here's a selection of our Christmas-party fun.

And that's it for 2021. Have a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2022!
