Updates from the AGM - FROGS

05 Dec 2019

Hi FROGS fans!

As I’m sure you all know, we had our AGM on 15th November (please check your inbox for full details and minutes).

Since it was the first one, we had quite a few details to discuss to ensure we establish clear aims and objectives for the charity, as well as agreeing on our terms of reference to help the charity to operate in a clear and transparent way. I’m sure you won’t be too surprised to hear, therefore, that we didn’t break any records for the fastest AGM in history!

I have attached the minutes of the AGM, which also includes the minutes of the general fundraising meeting that we held immediately after the AGM: please note – no FROGS members were harmed in the running of these meetings, and adequate sustenance was provided throughout the marathon meeting event, in the form of tea/coffee and cake! 😊

Charitable priorities for this academic year:

  1. To raise enough funds to obtain match funding for the remainder of the amount required to fund the new classroom build for Class 4.
  2. To continue to assist the school to provide enriching educational experiences for the children who attend our school.
  3. To use FROGS events and activities as a way of promoting the school amongst the local and wider community.

Upcoming fundraising events:

  1. FROGS alternative Christmas presents:

Have you got a friend or relative who is impossible to buy for? Are you fed up with spending money on presents that don’t get used, or end up in landfill before next Christmas? Do you want to buy a gift that is good for the environment, and also helps to support a wonderful local charity that directly benefits children in your community? THEN LOOK NO FURTHER!

FROGS have several options available to the discerning gift giver this festive season!

  • Greener Grewelthorpe Eco Shop products – Order forms will be sent out via email along with information about the products that area available to buy from the school Eco Shop. Perfect stocking fillers of shampoo bars, shampoo/conditioner “cubes”, plastic free dental floss, bamboo toothbrushes, and bees wax food wraps all available to order. Orders to be submitted by Friday 13th December to ensure delivery by 20th December. Further details to follow!
  • The Grewelthorpe 100 club – Do you know someone who enjoys the thrill of the lottery? Well then why not pay £2 a month for them to join The Grewelthorpe School 100 club, where they are in with a real chance of winning each month (the odds are much better than the National Lottery!) whilst also benefiting their local school! Details to follow separately!
  • Swinton Spa night – A perfect gift for that person in your life who deserves a little pampering! We are arranging another spa evening in January, on a Wednesday or Thursday evening (term time). Please email the school office if you might be interested, and let us know your preference of day (Wednesday or Thursday) and I will try to get a consensus amongst all interested parties before confirming the date with Swinton! We will make some very lovely gift vouchers that you can all give to friends and family at Christmas!

  1. Movie night - Thursday 19th December. £5 per ticket. Includes pop corn, hot dogs and corn-on-the-cob, and a drink! This will replace Miss Blake’s usual after school club for those children who usually attend that. Movie to be confirmed, but you can guarantee it will be festive! There will also be a tombola running alongside the movies in the atrium, so send the kids with a few coins if they might like a go on that!

  1. Refreshments will be sold after the school nativity and the main school production - so bring some coins and leave room for a mince pie or two! Donations of mince pies or other festive sweet delicacies are much appreciated!

  1. New year quiz - Jan 11th in the school hall. Details to follow shortly. Ticket price will include a pie and peas dinner. The bar will also be open, so don’t start any New Years resolutions too soon in January!

Please feel free to read the full minutes for further detail, but I think that should bring you more-or-less up to date!

Further detail to follow about our exciting upcoming events, as well as order forms for any festive Eco products you want to purchase, and details about how to sign up to the exciting Grewelthorpe 100 club!

See you soon FROGS fans!
