Clubs & Enrichment at Grewelthorpe Primary

At Grewelthorpe Primary, we believe that learning should be exciting, enriching, and extend beyond the classroom. Our wide range of clubs and activities helps children discover new interests, develop life skills, and build lasting friendships.

Breakfast & Afternoon Club

We know that flexibility matters for families. Our wraparound care runs from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Children can enjoy a healthy breakfast, quiet reading or computer time in the morning, and fun, relaxed activities in the afternoon. It’s a great way to start and end the day in a calm, supportive environment.

Forest School

Every class enjoys half a term of Forest School each year, held on Friday afternoons. Led by a qualified forest school teacher and supported by a qualified mountain leader, children explore nature, build dens, learn fire safety, and toast marshmallows. It’s muddy, adventurous, and often the highlight of the week!

Class Swimming

Swimming is a vital life skill, and we’re proud to offer swimming lessons for every class at Jack Laugher Leisure Centre in Ripon. Each KS2 class swims for half a term annually, with lessons tailored to ability levels to ensure progress, safety and confidence in the water.

Art Club

Held on Monday evenings, Art Club is a creative haven led by Mrs Lyall. Children explore a wide range of techniques including drawing, painting, clay modelling, and mixed media. It’s a colourful, imaginative space where every child’s creativity is celebrated.

Sports Club

Tuesday evenings are all about movement and teamwork. Sports Club gives children the chance to try a variety of sports such as football, dodgeball, cricket and more. It’s open to all ages and complements our in-school PE curriculum with extra fun and fitness.

Music Lessons

Music is a valued part of life at Grewelthorpe Primary. With the support of two talented music tutors, children can learn instruments including piano, acoustic and electric guitar, clarinet, flute, and saxophone. Pupils can take part in school concerts and work towards graded music exams, building both skill and confidence.

School Plays & Nativities

From Nursery to Year 6, every child has the chance to perform. Our school plays and nativities are inclusive and joyful events, with speaking roles for all Year 5 and 6 pupils. These performances help children develop public speaking skills, teamwork, and a sense of pride in their achievements.
