FROGS

Welcome to Grewelthorpe Primary and FROGS!

We are delighted to welcome you to Grewelthorpe Primary School and introduce you to FROGS (Friends of Grewelthorpe School). All parents of children at the school are members of FROGS, which exists to support and advance the education of all pupils.

The FROGS charitable account is separate from school funds and helps provide life-enriching experiences for the children that may not otherwise be covered by the primary school budget. Many extracurricular opportunities have been part-funded by FROGS, including transport to and from activities such as swimming, sports events, theatre and music trips, school outings, and enrichment weeks.

FROGS have also funded new equipment and resources for the school, such as laptops, iPads, and a shed for weekly forest school sessions. Additionally, FROGS have been fundraising tirelessly over the past few years to raise money for both a new library and a new classroom to accommodate Class 4 within the main school building. This new space will also open the possibility of a separate library and quiet study/intervention area for all pupils and staff. We have already raised a substantial amount towards the build costs but still have some way to go. This remains one of our fundraising priorities.

How Can Parents Help?

Some members attend meetings regularly and contribute great fundraising ideas. Others help at events or bake cakes and biscuits to sell. Some assist by sourcing and applying for grants or identifying match funding. If you don’t have much time to spare, you can still support FROGS by donating raffle and tombola prizes or attending and supporting events. If every parent contributes in their own way, we can make a big difference. All help is gratefully received, and it is through this team effort that we have achieved amazing results toenhance every child’s school experience.

Item 3: Financial report given on the finances of FROGS for the 2024/25 school year

Current Account: Opening balance 01/09/2024 - £17,884.51

Closing balance 31/08/2025 - £21,880.87

(This does not include the spend on the new library which was approximately £11,000)

120 Day Account: Opening balance 01/09/2024 - £60,308.10

Closing balance 31/08/2025 - £62,802.84

(It is noted that the money in the 120 Day Account was raised historically for a classroom renovation, that the latest CIF BID bid was not successful and therefore a new plan for this money needs to be decided by the Governors/school/FROGS as a matter of priority or we risk violating legal requirements for a charity body).

Item 4: Sarah Riley has stepped down (awaiting formal resignation in writing as not present at meeting). Rachel Howat and Sinéad Bell also requested to step down.

Kelly Musgrave voted in as new Chair.

Lexi Staveley voted onto committee, exact role TBC.

Next step for the new committee to discuss the opportunity with potential further committee members and formalise roles.
