Art Week - David Hockney
We always look forward to art week and this time it was painting's turn to be our choice of medium. As with all art projects, Mrs Lyall (our art specialist) is on speed dial and is always keen to offer a helping hand. She came into to model how perspective can be created in a landscape by looking at the vanishing point Mrs Lyall also demonstated pointillism, which we then had a go at. We were now ready to consider drawing some outlines of our landscape, with perspective in mi

Art Week
This week has been one of our favourite weeks so far - art week! For our project we created mountain scenes inspired by the winter Olympics. The children used a range of different types of paints and tools to create some wonderful pictures. They have also enjoyed learning all about the events in the winter Olympics too, and even had a go at indoor biathlon and curling thanks to Mrs Staveley. The children have worked incredibly hard this half term and we are all really proud o

We Will Rock You 🤘
What a band we'd make with this lot - very cool looking and we're not just pretty faces either, we also won the time-tables rockstar competition with ease 🤘 We've been looking at soluble and insoluble materials this week and have carried out an investigation to discover the outcome. The class were quite surprised by the results, like how the oil would float on the surface and not mix in. We first planned the investigation and ensured we were doing it all in a scientific and

Fabulous French
Over the last few weeks the children have been working hard on their language skills with Mr Breckon, and every Tuesday he comes to teach our class French. It is great that the children have the opportunity to learn a new language and they really enjoy role-playing different scenarios and playing language based games. We have also been working hard on our dancing skills with Mr Whitford and the dance is very nearly finished. We had a whole class run through on Tuesday and it

Balanced arguements
We've started looking at balanced arguments in English and weighing up where we stand on a range of subjects. Should children get homework? Should children own mobile phones? We quickly realised we needed to go over what being unbiased meant and had to consider both sides of the debate... Needless to say, their minds were made up but here we are deciding where we stand on the use of mobile phones We also highligted the features of a balanced argument And then held a full deba

Forest Schools
The children have been carrying on with their Forest School sessions again this week with Mrs L, and they have been learning some great life skills. They have been learning how to create shelters from things around them, and also how to cook some very tasty looking food (their cooking is much better than mine, the food would look very burnt if I had tried this!). It is fantastic that the children get to explore the amazing environment around them and to experience the country
