This week, we've been brushing up on our angles understanding. Using the protractor to measure precisely and then had lots of fun to estimate freehand and see how close we were. We've also used our knowledge to solve angle puzzles where protractors aren't needed. We've also begun are much-anticipated history unit on ancient Maya. It was lovely to see all the children after the holidays. We have had a very busy first 4 days back . In maths we have started a topic about time , starting with days of the week and months of the year. The EYFS children have been exploring doubles and odd and even numbers . It was great to see everybody again this week and to be able to welcome the children back to school. It was also lovely to actually see some sunshine and we made the most of it by getting outside at every opportunity. On Tuesday the class had their pe session with Mr Whitford and they started by taking part in some very energetic warm up sessions- I wish I had their energy! This week has been a really busy week as we have saved one of our best topics until last - levers and linkages in D and T. The children had to create an Easter card that had different moving parts to it, and they had to design all of the mechanisms and movements by themselves. This week the children have made and decorated an Easter tree. They had a super fun forest school lesson with Mrs Longstaff and celebrated Easter at our end of term service in church. I hope you all have a lovely break and look forward to seeing the children next term .

This week in maths the children have moved onto learning about measures of length and height. They have used centimetres and metres as standard units of measurment. The younger children have focused on the language of comparison of length. The KS1 children had a great time at forest school with Mrs Longstaff. At forest school for the last few weeks we have discussed fire etiquette in order to light a fire safely. We have practised using a flint and steel to create a spark and reminded ourselves of the fire triangle. We have toasted smores and also cooked bread on the fire on a peeled green stick. We have also learnt a lot about how to keep ourselves safe when using tools. Children have practised whittling using peelers and hand knives, peeling bark, practising a stop cut and a thu

This week the sun finally started shining and we made the most of the good weather by going outside and looking for mini-beasts. In science we have been studying different types of animals and creating classification keys, so we went outside to see which types of creatures we could find and then think about how we could sort them into different groups. This week, we've been doing some very important skills around how to deliver first aid and what to do in an emergency. Here we are carrying out a practical and putting our first-aid knowledge to the test. We were also very fortunate to have Bethel church come back to deliver a different workshop on the life of Jesus. They went through Jesus' life in order and brought it to life by having people play roles from the stories. We got to do a bit of drama by acting out the scenes
