This week we had some exciting news - Sara Cox was going to be running through our village as part of her Northern Challenge, where she was aiming to run 135 miles for Children in Need. With that in mind, we wanted to make her feel are inspired as possible, give her that extra life she no doubt needed to carry on. This week has been very exciting . The children made fantastic banners to encourage Sara Cox on her fundraising marathon run . They loved buying ice cream from the ice cream van and raising money through non uniform day and playing games run by class 3. We also learned about Remembrance day and the children made poppies which they shared in collective worship. Yesterday we held our Children in Need day in school to help raise money for a great charity. We moved the event a day forward so that we could celebrate Sara Cox running through the village and so that we could give her lots of encouragement as she went past our school. The children loved making some posters to wave and they were brilliant at cheering her on, and lots even got high-fives from her too! This week we have been looking at maps and how to use them to find our way around. We started out by looking at some maps of our local area and seeing if we could use these to find some of the villages and landmarks near us. We also looked at the different symbols on the maps and thought about what these might stand for.
