This week we worked scientifically to test materials to see if they were waterproof . In english we continued with our topic of traditional tales and used conjuntions in sentences about Goldilocks. In geography we named the 5 oceans of the world . The EYFS children have been busy looking at numbers within numbers , working hard with their phonics and making playdough ! Have a great weekend .

Reading is one of the most important things we do in school, and we are really lucky to have such an amazing library to use. We make sure we find time to read individually every day, as well as reading a class book out loud too. The children love using the books to discover new things and help us with our topic work (and some people have worked out that at book can be handy for hiding behind when the teacher is taking pictures for the website too! ).

We've been having fun in science testing the strength of different light sources and observing the darkness of the shadows created. We've started looking at our history topic, The impact on Britain after the Roman invasion, and as always, we began looking at where this topic slotted in with all our other studied history topics. We lined them up on a timeline and made sure to take spacing between the events to show the passage of time. We've now started to look at Celtic Brita

This week the KS1 children have continued to learn about everyday materials . We have looked at the properties of different materials and used scientific language to describe them. We started our geography topic by looking at the 7 continents on the world map and naming them. The reception children have started their phonics lessons and have worked really hard! This week we have been carrying out some experiments in science to see what happens when we heat and cool solids, and how we can change the state a material is in. We timed how long it would take for jelly cubes to melt in some beakers, which all had different temperatures of water in. Afterwards, we looked at what would happen if we then cooled a liquid down at different temperatures too, and how long they would take to solidify. We all had lots of fun measuring temperatures

We've had a really busy two weeks, and now my ipad is working, I can load pictures on again of all the things we've been up to. Firstly, we celebrated our first day back by hearing about one another's summer and I shared some American sweets from my travels, with of course was much appreciated. We've been securing our understanding of place value by reaching the dizzying numbers of up to 10,000,000. The children have worked out to break numbers down (partition) to much more
