Animals in their habitats

20 Apr 2021

The Year 3 and 4 children have been learning about animals and their habitats. They went on an animal hunt and had to group the animals they found into vertebrates and invertebrates. They thought about the animals characteristics and put them into their classification groups- insects, molluscs, annelid worms, myriapods, mammals, crustaceans, birds or amphibians. The children observed the animals they found to see if they had legs, wings, body segments, antennae, an exoskeleton or a waist. They found a lot of millipedes which they learnt are myriapods. They found very few woodlice but were surprised that they are crustaceans. The arachnids were fun to catch!
