Happy new year to you all - we had a traditional start back and made our first song in assembly Auld Land Syne, and joined hands; it was lots of fun. We also shared our hopes and aspirations for the year ahead.
We've started our new class book, Holes, which we're using as an inspiration for our writing. We've been looking at the features of newspaper reports, and imagining the situation of the lead character in the story, Stanley, and have been collecting evidence from the trial, which we can then use within our reports about the incident from the story.
We took on the role of Stanley, while others took on the role of reporter; here are some sneak shots, taken within the offical courtroom, with some eager reporters fact hungry and armed with questions. The accused does look somewhat guilty it has to be said.
Finally, In geography, we're looking at whether Ripon shoud reconsider it's railway station closure - did you know that Ripon had a full, working rail connection from Thirsk to Leeds? Here it is

We're looking at Ripon as a destination, what it has to offer, what draws people here and how the land is used. To further develop our understanding, we studied Ripon, using the OS maps and have begun to produce our own map, capturing key places.
Also, please note that p.e days are now Mondays and Tuesdays.
Have a great weekend.
