This week we have been really busy in Maths finding 1 more and 1 less than different numbers and making 2 digit numbers using base ten apparatus. We have also been thinking about Harvest and have written some Harvest themed list poems as well as using observational skills to paint watercolour pictures of fruits in Years 1 and 2, and printing with fruits in Early Years. What a busy week!

This week we worked scientifically to test materials to see if they were waterproof . In english we continued with our topic of traditional tales and used conjuntions in sentences about Goldilocks. In geography we named the 5 oceans of the world . The EYFS children have been busy looking at numbers within numbers , working hard with their phonics and making playdough ! Have a great weekend .

This week the KS1 children have continued to learn about everyday materials . We have looked at the properties of different materials and used scientific language to describe them. Class 1 have had an exciting week with a trip to Thorpe Perrow and a KS1 trip to watch an Opera North performance of Mozarts' The Magic Flute. It was magical! This week class1 have continued to explore ways to sort trees and plants. Thank you for your support with their homework! In maths we have contined to compare amounts of money. This week the children have looked at different flowering plants,made comparisons between their leaves and flowers and named the main parts. In maths EYFS have been making and counting sets of 20 objects. We have tried to stay cool with calm mindful activities like colouring, drawing and water play. The EYFS children had a shady forest school with lots of making. They have been amazing at coping with the heatwave! Well done class 1!

This week class 1 have been learning about the different plants and trees in our school grounds and locality . They have learnt to look carefully , sort and record their findings . We compared the bark rubbings the children made and the different leaf types. We sorted wild and garden flowers and made detailed sketches . The Year 1 and 2 children have continued their maths topic of Measures with Miss Lawton. In Geography the children have continued to explore the school and village locality using simple maps . The Year 1 and 2 children worked together to draw maps and give each other directions to follow using small play people . This week the children enjoyed a whole school trip to Ripon Workhouse Museum . They learnt about what life was like in 1876. This was the year our school opened so it helped put the history of the school into perspective. Have a super half term next week !
