After a very long term we have made it to the last week, and we saw the term out in style with our Christmas party on Wednesday. There was lots of dancing and games, as well as a few quizzes thrown in too. We all had a great time playing with our friends and dancing together, and it left us all feeling very Christmassy. This week we have been finishing off some of our Christmas themed activities. We started off by going back over our work and looking at some of the wonderful ideas we had thought of for our Christmas writing earlier in the term. Then we started to put these together to make some poems about Christmas sights and sounds. Later in the week we made some Christmas cards to take home too. After a long wait over the weekend for the paint to dry, the pictures were finally ready to be mounted on pieces of card and finished off to go home. The children created some wonderful designs and loved their art project. They amazed us with their creativity and there were lots of fantastic ideas. They are all really proud of their work, and rightly so.

This week has seen the return of one of our favourite times of the term - Art Week! We have been designing and creating some Christmas themed prints that we are going to use to make some beautiful Christmas cards. The children have loved experimenting with different printing techniques and styles and they have come up with some wonderful ideas. I won't show the final designs yet though at the children want them to be a surprise!

This week the children took part in a national times tables competition using the Rockstar Maths website. It was a very close event and we are all really proud of how well the children did and how hard they worked to get points to move us up the leaderboards. Unfortunately when we first logged on we couldn't get on the site as their servers were down as so many children across the country were playing at the same time. Yesterday we held our Children in Need day in school to help raise money for a great charity. We moved the event a day forward so that we could celebrate Sara Cox running through the village and so that we could give her lots of encouragement as she went past our school. The children loved making some posters to wave and they were brilliant at cheering her on, and lots even got high-fives from her too! This week we have been looking at maps and how to use them to find our way around. We started out by looking at some maps of our local area and seeing if we could use these to find some of the villages and landmarks near us. We also looked at the different symbols on the maps and thought about what these might stand for.
