This week class 3 had the opportunity to go to a dance showcase. They've been eagerly mastering a dance routine all halfterm and demonstrated their dance to a crowded hall, full of primary-school children. They carried it out with such enthusiasm, there were cartwheels a plenty and shaking hips. Here they are in full swing.
Some were noted for their contribution and received an award for their efforts.

In other areas of the curriculum, we've been studying the solar system and how it all connects together. We discussed how the planets orbit our star and defined what makes a planet, and what reason was given for Pluto's relegation. We used inflatable planets to create a model of the solar system, where we all orbited following our orbital paths. Some of the children took great delight in being asteroids crossing the paths of planets.

And finally, we've started to look at creative writing, and focused on writing settings and creating atmosphere - the children looked at an image, discussed the possible plot and key features in the setting. They then worked hard to 'show not tell' the reader through detailed description to create a vivid and engaging description. The children did an excellent job and were keen to put their work to the test. We therefore invited Mrs Stavely to listen to our descriptions and describe what her imaginations were created from our readings. It was great fun to compare a reader's view to an actual place.
