Maps

This week we have been busy working away on our local history topic all about Fountains Abbey. We have been using maps of the local area to work out where the abbey is, and how we could get there from our school (the children are definitely better at not getting lost than I am!). The children have also been looking at how the monks lived and what it would have been like to have been in the abbey when it was a working building. They were pretty shocked to discover what the food was like and that some monks took vows of silence and were not allowed to talk ; suddenly school didn't seem so bad. :)

The girls also took part in their final football session with Miss M from Sporting Influence this week. They have loved the sessions and it has been great to see how they are joining in with the football on the field at breaktimes now too. The lessons have been very enjoyable and the girls have really grown in confidence and ability over the last three weeks.
