A day in the life of a Roman

Updated: Oct 8
We've been discovering about the Roman Empire in our history studies, focusing on the reasons behind the Roman's attempts to invade Britain. We looked at the ways in which the Celts lived during the years before the invasion and on Wednesday, we visited Murton Park to experience the ways in which the Romans lived.
We were met by a Roman citizen called Flava who gave us some basic training before being permitted into the Roman Settlement and to meet the Centurion.

Once we entered, we were given clothing and given an overview of the Empire.
We were then taught Roman skills, such as how to write in their Latin language and use Roman numerals. We also took part in some pottery-making classes to make Roman oil lamps.
After lunch, we tried on some weaponry
And once we were familiar with how to wield a sword, we put it into practice by firing at the enemies; they were also Known as Dave, Bill, Bob and Ben
We had a great time being immersed in Roman life and have lots of knowledge to contribute to our topic.
