Wow - what an incredible morning.
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome our local MP, Sir Julian Smith, to officially open our brand-new library space today. It was a fabulous celebration, and we’re so proud of what this new addition means for our school community. Thank you so much to all the children for being such brilliant hosts.
The event marked the culmination of months of hard work and generous fundraising by our incredible FROGS team. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication and support in helping us bring this vision to life.
As Sir Julian Smith MP commented at the event, “It is fantastic to be here at Grewelthorpe Primary to celebrate the opening of their new library. This welcoming and creative space is a place where children can discover the joy of reading which is one of the most important investments we can make in their future. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this project possible."
Our new library, featuring the magical Treehouse of Tales, is already proving to be a huge hit. The children were also captivated by a special reading session from Hannah Russell, the award-winning author of the Little Alf books, who kindly joined us to share her stories and inspire our young readers.
This celebration comes on the back of a fantastic start to the term, with:
Leading KS2 results in the Ripon area
A “GOOD” rating from both OFSTED and SIAMS
And the launch of our brilliant new school website 👏🎉
We were delighted to welcome so many parents, carers, and members of the local community - including Gwen Errington who was a pupil at Grewelthorpe back in 1957 - to join us on this beautiful blue-sky autumn day. Thank you for coming, for your kind words, and for the delicious cakes - what a treat.
Next week we will be immersed in our history. Castles, Ancient Greece and the Tudors!
