To tie in with our celebrations around the school being 150 years old, we went on a whole school trip to the work house in Ripon so we could see what life was like in in the 1870s. Once the children had recovered from the shock of being told that there was no internet back then we toured the museum and took part in lots of different activities.

We learned all about the different jobs the children had to do around the house and took turns polishing, setting the tables, sweeping the floor and making a bed.

Later on we went over to the courthouse where we took part in a trial, and we heard the story of a young boy who was sent to Australia for seven years for stealing a loaf of bread from a baker in Ripon!

The children had an amazing day and learned a lot about what life was like in the past and enjoyed being able to take part in so many different activities.
