We've been studying the volume this week in maths. The children have learnt the process of finding the volume and to try and make maths as engaging as possible, we like to have a bit of fun with our calculations. We know the process to calculate it, but will it work? We found the volume of containers and then measured the exact amount of water out and poured it into a container... however, we needed a brave volunteer to sit underneath said container while we poured the water in.

Of course, being the bright lot we are, our calculations were correct. However we couldn't help that our hands were a bit shaky and (some) water may have gone overboard)

In our Maya studies, we were investigating how we only know about the Maya from the evidence and artefacts we have. These help shape our understanding and so the children investigated different artefacts and tried to interpret their meaning.

We ended the session by sampling some Cocoa in its original form. They were all looking forward to a Maya-style hot chocolate, which we heated on the pan using a molinillo whisk (traditional way of preparing hot chocolate)

Here we are sampling some
