SATs week is always a full-on time for year six. They have sat multiple exams and worked in such a studious manner, with dedication and commitment - they have absolutely done our school proud.

jubilant scenes as the SATs were declared over for 2026 - well done year 6 - you're awesome
In our history lessons, we've been studying how farming was crucial to the survival of the Maya. They lived in a hot, tropical climate with wet and dry seasons. In order to yield the best harvest, the Maya needed to understand when to plant their crops. We studied how the Maya were excellent astronomers, tracking the skies and learning when the wet seasons were coming and therefore when to plant their crops. We sampled many of the Maya crops and produce, creating a guacamole dish with tortillas.

Needless to say, the Mexican diet was a popular one in class.
We also finished off our Lego cities - the children worked incredibly hard as a team to be accurate and add details in to represent a typical Maya city.
And finally, to celebrate the SATs week being over for another year, we had an art afternoon, where we were inspired by the Mexican festival, the Day of the Dead. The children designed skulls in bright and bold colours to recreate those used in the festivities.

I'm going to a 150th birthday party this year; I bet you've never been able to say that before. Come along and celebrate the story of our school, the one which we're all writing the latest chapters for.
