VE Day
08 May 2025
We held a special VE assembly on Wednesday and Thursday where we invited two people in to share their experiences of the war and of VE day. One lady told us all about her memories of turning her garden into an allotment and not seeing her father for 5 years; she also shared the village history with us about the unfortunate story of the two village boys who lost their lives after discovering an unexploded bomb and investigating it. Also how the village provided homes for 73 evacuees.
We had another man come in to tell us about his experience of the Blitz and growing up in wartime Hull.
It was very special to be able to hear actual experiences and for so many of us to reconnect with our family stories.

The year sixes had their picture taken for the newspaper's leavers' edition, so here we are sporting the beautiful views our school has.

In science, we've been discussing the circulatory system and blood and oxygen get across our bodies. We rein acted the process of blood being transported to our organs through veins and back to our hearts on the playground by carrying red counters (oxygenated blood) to 'our organs' and swapping them with blue (unoxygenated blood) back to the heart. and for so many of us to reconnect with our family stories.

We're also making models of the hearts to reinforce the process.
