circulatory system

14 Jul 2023

It's been a real sport-themed week this week, with sports day and our work on the heart and circulatory system.

We've been looking at how the human body works and have focused on our hearts and how blood is transported around our body containing oxygen; it then returns back to our heart and lungs to be replenished. To embed this, we drew some 'veins and organs' on the playground and we ran around as the blood transporting oxygen before returning to the heart.

We also looked at the effect exercise has on our heart and took part in some physical exercises which got our heart rate up and recorded our bpms.

We recorded our results in a line graph afterwards and then completed model heart cut-outs.

All this work put us in great stead for competing in this year's sports day. We had a fantastic afternoon with lots of healthy competition but in the end the winners were the 'Lucky Charms'.

And we can't just ackowledge the children's success in the sports day race - that's right, the teachers' race was another important victory which was claimed by, well, the picture says it all

Have an enjoyable weekend and get some much-needed rest before our big production next week!
