Day at the Museum

06 Jun 2025

Thursday was a day that the children had been looking forward to for a long time - it was the day we went to Leeds Museum! :)

We split our day up into parts and spent the morning looking at the animal collections in the "Life on Earth" section to help us with our biomes topic, and then in the afternoon we had a workshop where we learned all about ancient Egypt.

The children loved being able to get so close to the exhibits and being able to look at the animals in detail. They were shocked at just how big some of the creatures were, especially the tigers!

I'm not sure how it happened but three of the children ended up being trapped behind the glass! I think they made an excellent addition to the creature section. laugh The museum said we can have them back at the end of the summer.

After lunch we went into the hidden back rooms of the museum to get the chance to see have how the Egyptians mummified their dead. The children loved being able to put their hands inside the mummies and pulling out the organs!

Thursday was a brilliant day and the children learned lots and had lots of fun too. I'm also VERY proud of how well they behaved and they were a real credit to the school. I'd like to give a special thanks to Mrs Wilson from North Stainley school who booked the trip for us.

Hope you have a great weekend!
