Science Rocks!

This week we have been looking at our new science topic - rocks!
The children have been looking at different types of rocks, and they couldn't believe how many different sorts there were! We found rocks of all shapes and sizes and we had great fun starting to think about how we could group them. We also looked at how rocks are formed and we were amazed to discover that we were holding rocks that had come out of a volcano.
Some of the pieces of rock had been made or shaped by people and we went on to talk about how and where different types of rock can be used. I wonder how many different types of rock there are around you now?
Later in the week the children had a bit of a treat in music with Mrs H - they got to try out the steel drums. They sounded amazing playing their different tunes and had lots of fun.
