Friday 11th July - Non Uniform Day in Support of St Michael's Hospice
06 Jul 2025
The Grewelthorpe Charity committee chose to support St Michaels Hospice this year because it is local charity and three students in the school have a Grandad who works with the charity and promotes raising as much money as possible. We want to make a difference to the world around us and believe choosing this charity would enable us to do this in the local community.
On Friday last week we were very lucky to have Mr. Tony Collins who is the CEO of St Michael’s Hospice (and Albert, Patrick and Felix’s Grandad) in to tell us about some of the work that the Hospice does to help people in their times of need. We found it interesting to hear about the hospice’s work to give each resident their choice of meal when first arriving – anything from lobster and caviar to fish chips and a pint of bitter or even a choice pizza. We found out that this part of the charity’s work costs the hospice around £7 for each new resident!
In response to finding this out and about the help the hospice gives in peoples times of need; we would like to raise some money for St Michael's Hospice with a non-uniform day this Friday (11
th July). In return for wearing non-uniform, we are looking for a voluntary contribution of anything from £1 or a donation of something that would be of value for another person to re-sell at the St Michael's Charity shop in Ripon – or both if anyone is feeling extra generous.
Thank you in advance for all your donations,
Zara, Alfred, Kitson, Albert, Harry and Mrs. Field.
