Class 2 - Tuesday 14th July

13 Jul 2020

What do you think the cat is reading?!

                                                                                                                                                                                                              Good Morning Everyone!
I hope that you are all enjoying thinking about our next school year, as well as remembering all the brilliant things you have done during this year.  It's a very exciting time and we have lots to look forward to.

Here are today's activities. You don't have to do them all and you can do them in any order.

Today's  Collective Worship is with Mr Gamble and is about New Beginnings again.
To join in, please find 'Collective Worship' on the Class 3 page or go to the New Articles page.

Reading:
Try to spend at least twenty minutes each day reading.
This can be reading a book aloud or sharing a book with an adult.

Today's story is about a caterpillar:

'The Cautious Caterpillar'

Butterflies go through many changes in their life:

Click on the book to start

I hope you enjoyed the story.  The caterpillar goes through lots of changes before finally becoming a butterfly.   Did you notice that the caterpillar was a little nervous about making some of the changes? In the end, everything was fine and the caterpillar needn't have been so worried.
It's a bit like that for you, when you are starting something different at school.  You might be a bit nervous about what you will be asked to do when you change to Year 1 and then Year 2.  But don't worry, all the adults in class will help you!

Here are some maths tasks with pictures of characters from the story:

In this week’s learning project, we will be thinking about our favourite memories about things that we've done in school this year.
We will also be thinking about our hopes and dreams for our next year in school.

Here is today's task:
I am special! Can you think about what makes you special?
What makes you different to other people?
We are all different and have different things that we are good at.
You could ask other people what they think is special about you!                                                                                                                                  You could carefully cut out pictures from magazines or draw pictures to show your individual qualities and the things you like, such as dance shoes, football boots, your favourite book, things that you like learning about, things that you like playing with.
Create an ‘I am special’ collage by sticking your pictures onto a  person template.

Be kind and help others
In Class 2, we try hard to show kindness to others. Have you done anything to help someone else today?  Try to do a kind act for someone else. You might help with something or it might be to do something to cheer up another person.  A friendly wave and smile through the window can mean a lot to someone who is lonely.

The activities below are for you to choose from throughout this week.
You don’t have to do them all.  Choose some activities that you think you will enjoy.

  Stay Active!
Choose a time when you will do some exercise today. Have you decided what you're going to do today?
Maybe more than one thing.
You might like to do one of the activities below, or maybe go for a walk, run or do some cycling.  You could do an exercise routine with Joe Wicks, find a fun activity on GoNoodle or try something new like yoga:  https://www.harrogatessp.com/keeping-all-young-people-active/
How about starting with a Go Noodle workout:
