  Good morning Home School!

VE Day

Me and my family dressed up in 1940's clothes and had a special afternoon tea while listening to Glen Miller on his trombone!

Wake up and shake up! Click on the link below to choose an activity to start the day. Do a morning routine with Joe Wicks, find a fun activity on GoNoodle or try something new like yoga.

Morning work

Practice your mental maths by playing on SumDog.

Which ladder letter did we practice yesterday? Watch the video below to find out what we are doing today.

Y1 practice the letter 'y' on the 5th page of your Handwriting 2 booklet. It should say 'Short ladder letters' at the top of the page.

Y2 practice the letter 'y' and the word 'they' on the first page of Handwriting 6. You can also complete the words at the bottom 'the cat can dig'. Is that a sentence? What is missing? Can you correct it so that it is correctly punctuated?

This week we are going to listen to a new chapter each day from the story Little Red. Click on the video below to listen to Chapter 2.

I have set some activities for this story in PurpleMash . Login and click on '2Do'. When you are playing the game to help Little Red collect the flowers look at the top right corner of the screen. Can you use the map to help you stay away from the fox?

Y2 The wolf said he had joined a wolf circus to learn to walk. When you have finished your PurpleMash activity I want you to think about what else might happen at wolf circus? Now choose activity 1) or 2):

  1) Draw one or more pictures of the wolf learning to walk. Label the pictures, or write some sentences to describe what is happening.

  2) Draw one or more pictures of your ideas for wolf circus. Label the picture, or write some sentences to tell me more about wolf circus.

Optional challenge Y1: Draw and label a picture of a Wolf Circus.

 Y1 Maths
Ravi has been drawing pictures of what he did yesterday evening. Let's take a look.

Here are some clocks showing times for this morning. They don't seem to be in the correct order. You could print the clocks out at cut them up or write the times on 4 small pieces of paper. Use your home made clocks to help you put them in order. Stick them into your Journal and draw a picture to tell me what you did this morning at each time.

Y2 Maths

The pages in your book today are 131 and 132. The clocks are a bit small in your books so you could copy the times using your clock first to help.

If you want more practice telling the time to the 5 minutes you can play the game https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/116/telling-the-time

Scroll down to the game, click on it and choose game 4 'Read the time to the 5 minutes.

Maths Super Challenge

Year 1
Y1 log onto Phonicsplay or https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/  and play Picnic on Pluto and choose Phase 5 then 'u_e' sound.

Practice your spellings using the 'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' method using your spelling sheets.

If you have time log onto WordShark. I have set this weeks spellings so you need click on the 'My Set Work' tab at the top of the screen.

Year 2
Yesterday you made your own spelling list. Practice your spellings using the  'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' method using your spelling sheets. Remember to use joined up handwriting and think about how it feels to write each word. Sometimes the way the word feels as you write it can help you remember how to spell it.

Log onto WordShark.  I have not set any work on Wordshark so just play the games and you will be practicing the words that the computer has set as your target words to practice.

Y1 & Y2 Read a few pages from your school book. Then quiet reading for 20 mins - you can carry on reading your school book, or choose a book you have at home. Think about a quiet place you could go to read. Maybe outside?

Click on the link and watch the video to find out the names of the different parts of a plant. There is also a quiz to test what you can remember! https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zpxnyrd/articles/z3wpsbk

Other Things
What else are you doing at Home School?

What is a volcano?
Have you ever thought about what lies beneath our feet?

Last weekend we all dressed up and went to our homemade Italian Restaurant. It was lots of fun! I made the Menu.

We ate some delicious Italian food and my big sisters made a Raspberry Tiramisu...yum!

We listened to Pavarotti while we ate and had an quiz all about Italy.
